When your employee is under suspicion for misconduct or wrongdoing, what are a company's responsibilities and legal limitations when investigating the issue?
Senior-level managers explored these questions at a two-day training program in October called The Process of Workplace Investigations, hosted by IPC International at its Bannockburn, Ill., headquarters.
The course was presented by Eugene Ferraro, CPP, CFE, PCI, and the CEO and founder of Business Controls Inc, a professional corporate investigation, training, and consulting firm headquartered in Colorado.
The Process of Workplace Investigations is one of BCI's most popular training courses, according to Ferraro. The course examined the methods, tools, and legal limitations of modern fact-finding. Attendees learned how to use BCI's proprietary methodology, The Process of Investigation® to conduct proper cost-effective investigations and obtain the highest possible return on investment for every undertaking.
"This type of proactive and effective training for our employees reinforces our commitment to professional development and adds significant value to all of our clients as IPC works with them to protect their assets from internal and external threats," said IPC's Senior Vice President of Training and Professional Development, Don Sandel.
Ferraro is one of the premier experts on workplace investigations in the country today. He has been a corporate investigator for over 26 years and is the author of eight books on investigatory techniques. His most recent work, Investigations in the Workplace, is used as a textbook at universities across the nation. Ferraro also trains organizations and speaks publicly on fraud prevention, workplace violence, substance abuse, and employee hotline best practices.
