As an industry-leading Security Provider, IPC International had the honor of being able to both compete and judge at the National K-9 Olympics, sponsored by American Working Dogs, Inc.
Among the 73 teams, IPC was one of three private agencies taking part in the competition. Among the other teams competing were representatives from the U.S. Secret Service, National Security Agency, Pentagon Police Department and U.S. Army Special Forces. Teams competed in explosive detection, obedience, controlled aggression, tracking and human detection.
IPC's Dan Merow with partner K-9 Bruno, placed 2nd in explosives detection for warehouses, 3rd for explosives detection in a school and ranked 8th overall among the 73 teams competing.
Chad DuBose, IPC's Director of National K-9 Operations was asked to judge the competition. Chad is recognized as a premiere canine expert and has been instrumental in advancing IPC's K-9 services. After witnessing the high degree of expertise and skill displayed by all the teams, Chad had this to say regarding IPC's performance, "I am very pleased with Dan's performance and acumen during this prestigious competition. His success is a testament to the commitment, skill and dedication of IPC's officers, as well as the training and development of his K-9, Bruno."
IPC was very pleased with the performance, especially considering the stature of many of the teams present and their advanced skill level. Being able to compete against the nation's best law enforcement and security K-9 teams reinforced IPC's position as an elite K-9 unit.
IPC's K-9 Security Services are able to seamlessly integrate with existing security measures, enhancing detection capabilities with an authoritative, highly visible security presence. The canines are trained to be both assertive and sociable, and are specifically selected based on temperament, drive and obedience. They remain gentle and friendly when interacting with the public in high-traffic venues, however, they can quickly and effectively respond to threatening situations when necessary.
